The drylands were a desert region on Gallifrey, located within sight of the Capitol. Rassilon described it as a place where”nobody who matters” lived. (Hell Bent) They were also called “outlands.” (The Eight Doctors) The area was home to sand beetles and dust worms, as well as pig-rats. Exiles from the Capitol were sent to live in the outlands.
